Die2Nite Forum
well we survived till day four with basically only 13 active players, and most of them having no idea what they're doing.... I'm gathering up a few who show some actual promise and were going to skip town (be horribly eaten alive) tomorrow night
It seems that there have been some unfortunate updates to the random towns, here's an excellent forum that are talking about some of the problems permeating in the beginner towns http://www.die2nite.com/tid/forum#!view/42279|thread/45898960
Of course some of these "problems" can make for great role-play, there's still just as many hotheaded idiots who think they know everything hanging around, dealing with them often proves an actual mental challenge which is an aspect I love about the game! it can frustrate the hell out of you but that's real life for ya!
Also an update on the shunning system, it takes eight complaints filed on a specific person for them to be shunned, so as you can imagine a coalition of five people holds considerable sway in a town, especially if they know each other well.
Not to mention if you become particularly good or make a name for yourself you can get invited to one of the meta-towns, which are planned in advance and filled with veteran players, these towns can last for upwards of 30 days depending of course on circumstances and luck.

We would need just three more people and we could act a 'judgement team' and ostracize all the hotheads and idiots so the town could go town fighting zombies instead of each other....

It's shocking how often people will go with the flow and follow the lead of a coalition > if five people all think someone is bad for the town well then it must be true!

Small update though, me and my new apprentice skipped town and joined a new one, already we met someone with promising skill so this one should be a bit more interesting.
A slightly more important topic though is the fact that I got in touch with some of my old Meta gaming buddies and to say the least they've offered me (and any of my friends who want to Tag along) a spot in any of the popular Meta Towns. Of course to be in a meta-town you actually need to have 100 soul points so will still need to enter a few random towns to train everybody up. And of course to get everybody familiarized with the game :)

Alright so I spends little over two weeks in the small towns and I can say that it is a sorry excuse for a Community, There is a permanent Air of Suspicion and urgency as most people know that they won't be able to last more than a few days, it's still a very fun game though and it only shines once you get into the Meta-towns.
So if anyone is interested in joining me feel free to make an account and send me the name so I can invite you to My coalition :) And if you have any questions About the game I can answer them.

Always interested in any good examples of game play or stories. How long can a mega-town last for?

For hard-core towns, Generally 20, for distant region Metas, Some of the best can last beyond a month. These days Though a successful small town will last for seven or eight days.
Sadly it's a game that you need to put some work into if you really want to enjoy it, the only downside I could see about you guys playing it is the fact that you need to login daily whether it be for 10 minutes or 30.

Re: Die2Nite Forum
Just jumped into a new town today after the last one Ended horribly, spirits are high over here and it looks like we have a Small group of generally Able minded people That should be able to direct the mindless newbie workforce in the right direction. We already got to buildings up on the first day, gate reinforcements to give us that extra boost of defense to last the night, and a pump to gather Extra water rations out of the well each day, this will help us significantly because will be able to use the extra water rations As ammo for our water guns (zombies in this universe are dissolved by water, the landscape is also an arid desert) But most importantly, and most sadistically, we discovered one of the most effective defensive buildings one could buy. The small cemetery! and for you to understand let me post exactly what I posted on the forums.
SERIOUSLY THOUGH GUYS!!! The small cemetery is a godsend for us! Not only do we not need to drag bodies out of the town when they die, but no matter who dies where they will add 10 points of defense to the town permanently!!!!!
It's kind of like that scene in Firefly where Capt. Reynolds orders the corpses of his friends to be burned and plastered on to Serenity so they could sneak past the Reavers
So let's get to it
That's right, we're going to use the mangled bodies of our former neighbors as a way to survive longer, to be honest this is one of the less sadistic buildings that you can create that involve citizens. Take the meat locker for instance, do you feel like shunning a delinquent just isn't enough? do you feel like all those resources that they've wasted should not go unpunished? then why not stick them in a cage in front of the town gates to distract the zombies?
