Refusing to Sing O Canada for Harper

A group of forest firefighters Refused to Sing O Canada for Stephen Harper the other day.

There are some classic lines from the article like “That’s complete bullshit. Harper just wanted a picture as quickly as he could get one…he still smelled like garlic from whatever he had for lunch,” said the 37-year-old father of two."

I'd love for this to be true but 'The Lapine' seems like one of those news parody sites. The interesting part is it seems to be a Canadian news parody site and many of the headlines feature Harper.

Thought it was to good to be true. It was on so many different sites so I wasn't sure.

That breed of 'news parody' website has become a minor plague in the modern media as they are often re-printed by careless major outlets as true stories. The news cycle is 24/7 so they are always hunger for a new headline.

Unlike 'The Onion' where the headline was the often punchline (i.e "Loved Ones Recall Local Man’s Cowardly Battle With Cancer") the headline "A group of forest firefighters Refused to Sing O Canada for Harper" sounds legit. Let's hope that this joke leads to a case of pseudo-ostension...

How would the pseudo-media news story be different from an "actual" news story ? LOL Both have heavy traces of fiction the majority of the time.
