I think Steph and I are the birthday keepers for knowing everyones birthdays. For whatever reason they stick in my head easily.

Also Hobb and Steff I got the book you sent and it is awesome! Amano has a shrimp named after him which we use in one of our tanks. It was perfect timing for the book as we just got a lot more plants in and are redoing some aquascaping. I have long looked at his tanks and been in awe of how amazing they look. I think and hope in the not to distant future some of our tanks will begin to look more like his, but with our own style of course. The book gives all the details of his tank which is really nice to help give ideas.

Anyways it is a great book and I will post some pictures of our tanks again soon.

I'm glad you are enjoying it. We looked through a bunch of books on aquariums and decided to send you the book that we most wanted! It was hard to judge the more scientific-sounding books but a book on a Japanese aquascaper's best work fired-up our interest. I imagine his aquariums like a combination of Hayao Miyazaki landscapes and zen rock gardens.

His aquariums have inspired me a lot. I had been thinking of getting a t5 ho quad light system for a long time and seeing his aquariums pushed me over the edge. It is only a small lighting system for a 20 gallon tank but we should be able to grow most plants now.

Everything sort of fell into place for it. Shortly after getting the book our local fish store just received a large shipment of awesome plants! No other store here really bothered bringing in harder to grow plants so we now have local access to some beautiful plants. The book, the plants, the love of water and water plants made it time to get the lights. I am quite excited for them to get here and do some aquascaping! It will take a while for everything to start growing and spreading but once it does I will post some pics of it.
