Three glimpses into what is hidden

More tonnage of bombs was dropped on Laos during the Vietnam war than during the whole of WWII - and no one could hear it. The 'secret war' in Laos was classified a covert operation so no one reported on it, unless your were underneath the massive bombardment, it didn't happen. If the mass media wants you to know something, it will be hammered in over and over, and if mass media doesn't want you to know something, then down the 'memory hole' it goes. With inter-locking transnational media corporations and teams of well-funded 'media consultants' you can do misdirection and sleight-of-hand on a global scale. Contemplate that fact for a moment - and then read these three glimpses behind those planetary-sized illusions:

A) On April 20th 2010 a deepwater oil well exploded and 200 million gallons of oil erupted into the Gulf of Mexico. BP was designated the lead "Responsible Party" under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, giving them "operational authority".

Immediate a veil was pulled over the area. Public relation teams descended, the Coast Guard was used to keep any boats away, the FAA kept out aircraft, huge 'visual barricades' were craned into place to prevent views of the piers. Mass operations were conducted at night, facebook posting were censored, secret burn-pits were lit, security teams barred the photography of any dead animals. When a boat full of CBS reported was turned back by the Coast-guard they were told, "these are BP's rules, not ours."

This must be considered a PR success for BP because today the details of both the clean-up and the environmental devastation caused "remain unclear". Read Deepwater Capitialism to peak behind the BP's well-constructed veil.

B) In 1938 the Bank of Canada was made into a public institution, over the next 40 year it lent the Canadian government the money to finance the Trans-Canada highway, the St Lawrence Seaway, hundreds of hospitals and universities across the country, and social programs like the Old Age Security Act. It created modern Canada. Then in 1974, behind closed doors in Switzerland, secret meetings were held where it was decided that  the Canadian government had to start borrowing from private banks and by 2012 Canada's interest payments to private bank topped $1 trillion crippling the country with debt and austerity.

This month a group of concerned Canadian citizens won another major victory in undoing the 1974 sell-out and our government will now be forced to provide a reason for keeping this situation a secret. Of course, the corporate media doesn't believe that anyone needs to anything about this, we only need to hear about the countries' mysterious debt (to who? for what?) and, more importantly, our endless need to sacrifice money to it.

C)  If the C.I.A is 'Capitalism's Invisible Army', than NATO is capitalism's mailed fist used to openly smash and destroy any economic rivals to capitalism. Marget Thatcher once infamously said "there is no alternative" to free-market capitalism, what she meant is that any alternatives to capitalism will be attacked with NATO-launched cruise missiles, NATO-dropped laser-guided bombs and NATO-backed fanatics and fascists.

NATO was birthed to destroy the United Soviet Socialist Republic and when it succeeded it turned its' bomb-sights on the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, after that was destroyed it, it destroyed that Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya - see the pattern yet?
Currently, NATO-member Turkey is a key ISIS ally in their war against the quasi-socialist Syrian Arab Republic and NATO is heavily backing the fascistic Ukraine coup after the former Ukraine president made the mistake of trying to join the Russian Common Market.

"One of the main features of NATO’s bombing campaign against Yugoslavia in 1999 was the deliberate targeting of factories and manufacturing plants. As a member of a delegation travelling throughout Yugoslavia shortly after the end of the war, I could readily see that such targeting had been methodical and thorough. Wherever we went, there was no military value in the facilities that NATO chose to destroy. Indeed, the common criterion was that state-owned and worker cooperative factories and plants that supported many people were singled out...."

The BP deepwater oil spill is almost forgotten from the main stream media.  The protective veil remains intact while the real life implications from this spill will remain for thousands of years.  It troubles me deeply knowing that nothing has changed in the way the system works.  BP is doing better than it has ever done and is already back in the gulf doing more deep drilling (as the article indicates).  

If only the main stream media would actually be honest and do proper reporting the veils would drop and the start to correcting the horror show would begin.  But it is almost forgotten in less than 5 years.  

Our oceans are in a terrible state.  From the great Pacific garbage patch (the small estimates are it is the size of Texas), the Indian ocean garbage patch and the North Atlantic garbage patch to the BP oil spill which also got sucked up into the gyres of the oceans.  Let alone the rapid acidification of our oceans.  I don't think I heard any stories covering these topics in the news but I do know that all but one Canadian hockey team is in the playoffs.  It is utterly shameful and disgusts me almost daily.  

C.O.M.E.R (Committee on Monetary and Economic Reform) with the help of Rocco Galati are asking the hard questions and succeeding yet again, no word of it in the media.  

I often feel frustrated with important local and world events because the real issues are never dealt with let alone talked about.  I get angry at politicians or corporations but really I think my frustration should be focused on the media.  They are the keepers to information and they are ones denying people access to it.  They control the flow of it and control the ideas that get pumped into our culture on a 24/7 basis.  

The media must change. It is one of the keys to exposing the lies that we consume daily. It is necessary to achieve a way of life that allows us to move forward, to be fulfilled as humans, to acknowledge the problems and work towards correcting them and not just bandaging them or ignoring them completely.

With respect to Deepwater Capitalism...

I had no idea - neither the scale to which the BP spill affected the Gulf and its inhabitants, nor how effectively BP could cover up the resultant destruction (and clean-up, if you can call it that!).

So...if I understand the mechanics right, then BP is King and ultimate ruler of everything and anything that happens with oil wells and the surrounding oceans they inhabit? And, somehow, we have passed/enacted laws that allow this to be so?

To me, this all sounds much like the police policing themselves, or the ability of politicians and the money elite to speak of transparency while simultaneously holding secret meetings!

I'm happy to hear that victories are being had in court over this issue. The article stated the story being suppressed in the media, with one exception - would have been good if they stated what/who that exception was?

I asked my Swiss-French friend while on a walk a couple weeks' back, how it was that Switzerland was able to stay neutral during, and actually benefit from, WWII. She mentioned being taught something to the effect that both sides agreed that Switzerland should remain neutral and be used as a safehouse for their assets. This may not be remotely related to the Washington Concensus and such...but because this secret meeting happened in Switz., I thought I'd bring it up.
