Re: R.I.P Moltar
Longtime Adult Swim animator and voice actor Clay Martin Croker has died ... best known for playing both Moltar and Zorak ... Croker was the animation director on Coast To Coast, and it was reportedly his idea to add longtime Space Ghost foes Zorak and Moltar to the show ...
On September 24, 2016, at the beginning of "Toonami", there is a transmission from Moltar, telling him that he's returning to his home planet and isn't coming back and then boasts that he was the better Toonami host. The host then wishes Moltar the best of luck and says, "May your oven stay forever lit." It then shows an image of Croker, with the words "(1962-2016) ... These days, its virtually impossibly to (legally) get all of the episodes of Space Ghost Coast To Coast, but the show lives on thanks to YouTube clips and the old DVDs. Adult Swim has made almost every episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast available for free on their website in honor of him"

Coast to Coast had punk sewn into its very aesthetic. Coast to Coast was alternative "anti-comedy" at its absolute best. Croker's legacy as animator, writer, and voice artist, is tied up in this aggravated anti-consumer ethos. These shows never sought an audience. They were a beacon for freaks and weirdos, and they knew that we'd come. And we did.
They didn't care if you were Hulk Hogan (and they wouldn't care if you were Kim Kardashian.) They only cared if you were getting enough oxygen. The show was basically saying, "Your star will fall, you will be nothing, you know this because you are here" and in that daunting realization was great and agitating TV. It's a Samuel Beckett play meets E! News.
Croker may have died an obscure cult figure, but the legacy of Coast to Coast, and his other Adult Swim projects carry on, sometimes imperceptibly, in this galaxy and somewhere into the next. Adult Swim and its outsider influence looms large over not just modern animation, but modern comedy as a whole. Today, you can see its influence everywhere. You wouldn't have Tim and Eric, Rick and Morty, Adventure Time, or Eric Andre without it.
His relatively young age (54), the suddenness of his death and the lack of cause being given suggests he might have died from suicide or overdose. Or he could just be a very private person. Doesn't matter. He made me laugh, laugh hard. That's not easy. He's right up there with Bill Hicks. Wherever Crocker and Hicks have gone, that's where I'm aiming for when I'm dead so I can be among my people.

Re: R.I.P Moltar
When I came across the news of his death I actually felt grief. The world lost someone important.
Not that it matters and I don't know how true this is but this was post about the details of his death https://www.reddit.com/r/adultswim/comments/53f3bn/details_about_c_martin_crokers_death/. If it is true then based on my experience I'd say it was likely a heart attack. Almostevery heart attack I have seen has resulted in vomiting. I was concerned another presidential election might have driven another great mind to suicide.
Here is Moltar's final transmission.

Thanks for digging up that reddit post. It is small comfort but I'm glad to know he was enjoying life - eating out and browsing bookstores sounds like a good day - until his death.
