VNV Nation - Darkangel (Apocalyptic Mix by Das Ich)

The first VNV song that caught my attention. From the 'We Came to Dance' compilation (2000). Still one of the best VNV song, remixed or otherwise. The combination of driving techno and intelligent lyrics still set the high standard for what I look for in this type of song. The fact a German band know how to remix this song to perfect might speak to the drop of 'benevolent fascism' I often detect in VNV song, but that's a topic for another post.

I have always felt the lyrics were "right what you have suffered". I like it better that way. Taking action to fix the wrongs.

The lyrics are great. The sadness, shallowness, loneliness all captured. And hope, anger, and the ferocity to fix it that emerges from going into the darkness. Tapping that dark energy to make the world a better place. That's my kind of music.
