The thing about Moogs is that they are monophonic - they can only play one note at a time! So the richest and craziest early adopters would buy multiple Moogs to get polyphonic sound. The craziest would fill a room with Moogs and other synths and patch them all together. Occasionaly the maddest would pair-up and together create real musical monsters.

In 1971 Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff would create TONTO "The Original New Timbral Orchestra", the first, and still the largest, polyphonic analog synthesizer in the world.

This would interesting enough but the albumn the created way back in 1971 (after years of soldering and tinkering TONTO together) is what makes me post this. Their album stands the test of time in a way that many Moog novelty records haven't. The music is smooooth, with a sythnetic mellowness that is still rare to find. Don't take my word for it, ask Stevie Wonder...

...would made FIVE funky albums with TONTO and its two creators.

Or just listen with your own ears.

I also recommend trying 'Bittersweet' (on Soundcloud). If you liked those move to a whole record and float down a meandering mellow Moog stream for the next 30 minutes.
