You showed me this song years ago and it has been in most of my playlists since then. Great song!

Had not heard this song before - very, very nice.

Since realizing their vital role in creating Skinny Puppy's sound I've really enjoy songs with pronounced delay/echo effects. Such a simple effect but so strangely powerful.

Harvey is singing about the chalky clay cliffs of her hometown Dorset in southern England. I suspect the famous 'White Cliffs of Dover' are part of the same geological formation.

Echo effects, gothy lyrics and hometown nostalgia are a dangerously narcotic combination, I can almost feel my brain releasing serotonin...

Stef was a PJ Harvey fan way back in the mid-90s. I only know one of her songs but it's a good one with a growling electric bassline, more gothy lyrics and a nice whispery ending. Listening to it right now I can hear traces of Massive Attack in it.

Glad you liked the song.  Going to try and drop in on Mondays and share some music.  Failed already, as I was consumed by the September online course vortex.  (I am also taking some SOCI courses too, think of tracking towards my MA in Sociology). I liked PJ Harvey quite a bit in the 90s, but loved her in the 21st Cent.    White Chalk and Let England Shake are two amazing pieces of music.

As a side note on the performance, it is from a UK TV show called From the Basement -- the studio they have set up for that show is amazing...a second example:
