r2n is sinking and I'm going under
With Reb moving to Sudbury that removes one of the major reasons for this forum's existence. This might be the final days.
I'll start drowning my sorrow in melancholy Canadian rock...
The old come here to kiss their dead
And if Venice is sinking, I'm going under
'Cause beauty's religion and its christened me with wonder
I have my hands in the river, my feet back up on the banks
Looked up to the Lord above And said,
"Hey man, thanks, sometimes I feel so good I gotta scream!"
She said Gordie baby I know exactly what you mean...
Take me home!

Re: r2n is sinking and I'm going under
I think R2N might actually become more useful in the upcoming months. Still a great way to share links and thoughts and now it may even help us coordinate activities.
I remember seeing the Tragically Hip at Eden fest. I always sort of liked them but not really. After his death and hearing more and more songs I began to enjoy them more.
Spirit of the West is a band I have actually seen multiple times live. I actually think Torgo has been with me each time too. They are great live!
The lead singer of the band (John Mann) has early onset Alzheimer's and several of the top Canadian musicians preformed a benefit concert for him. I can only find the video for "Home for a rest". In my opinion it is not as good as the original but I would like to see the rest of the show.
Speaking of tributes to Canadian artists the CBC had a memorial tribute to Leonard Cohen. First on the radio in Demember and then on TV in January.
Here is a playlist of the songs:
Adam Cohen (Leonard's son) voice sounds very much like Leonard's. Adam does a few of the songs on the playlist.

I didn't know you got to see Spirit of the West - much less multiple times. Was this in North Bay?

Just heard this on the movie 'Times Square' (1980) this weekend. Listening to it everyday since.

I can appreciate you listening to Pissing In A River every day since.
My favourite of hers, co-written by Smith and Springsteen - has always been Because The Night.
