Late October
When you are out of touch with the modern world you begin to worry about it. Will it be OK without me watching over it? Upon checking in you quickly realize why you originally ran from it. There is a stench over North America and it ain't just Trump, he's just the rotten head of a rotten body politic. Moral Panics, soundbites and partisan politics are 95% of our media culture and each is a form of soul death. As Shakes wrote, "Full of sound and fury, signifying worse than nothing, it is brain-damaging disinfo"
I guess I still have a soul. Some part of me keeps being horrified.
Looking at 'American fantasy/D&D' will either drive me insane or some slight path through must emerge. Fantasy is a monster in itself, poorly defined, heavily hybridized, a rainbow-clothed siren seducing us into living death. But fantasy is really 'phantasie' which leads us to 'phos' light (like phosphorus, photos and photons). Can a coherent trickle of light be fashioned from a bedazzling rainbow?
With my skills the chance is 50/50.

Re: Late October
The area in BLUE just voted to kill off the most vulnerable Canadians because of greed and hate. This is their "platform" .
Members on this forum ran as ORANGE candidates. This party is not perfect but they still have ethical prohibitions against killing the weakest for money.
For RED roll a die: 1-4- Treat as Blue | 5-6 Treat as Orange]
The average southern Ontarian is a 'moral monster', the policies they vote for kill other Ontarians. Take it up with the history books and statistical data if it sounds too harsh for you. A large number of vulnerable Ontarians (especially those with high needs kids) are hanging on by fingernails and they are being consciously pushed into the outer darkness to die because of "austerity" and "market solutions". I'm cynical enough to accept this. But the question remains - how do the ethical humans deal with such a massively toxic "culture" forming around them?
Satellite data reveals there are pockets of humans trapped within "monster territory", so maybe humanitarian corridors could be set-up, mostly overland but Windsor must be reached by boat.
Traveling through large swaths of rural and suburban fascists will be risky. Mostly it will be rich old men savagely protecting their slice of 'cottage country' but as you get to urban pockets get ready for younger males coked up on cocaine and Rebel Media podcasts. It will get Mad Max-y (but without any fabulous artist design) just morally ugly people doing morally ugly things.
I cannot be too grim because of simple fact: we still live in the human territory. The average person you see in Northern Ontario is not a moral abomination in terms of their politics. That's a small mercy but a real one.[/color]

Re: Late October
Surveying the post-election landscape on the web is interesting: many angry Cons and many optimistic liberal-left. Not what I was expecting.
I guess the media was so pro-Con that people are surprised that Canadians aren't as right as the media. I don't know. Someone was definitely over-hyping the Conservatives expectations which now feeds into their whole 'white victim' script. I'm glad I sat this election out (I voted but did not follow any coverage).
Here is a podcast on the election from the Canadian left perspective:

The media is the priest class.
To Torgo and Dave, my hats off for your bravery in facing those gaze of those horrible priests.
And, as anyways...

Re: Late October
The primary function of the 'alt-right' is steer *every* conservation to race/gender or Trump/Democrats. It's so boring at this point.

Re: Late October
Whistling down the Road to NoWhere....
As I went walking I saw a sign there,
It read: "Private - No Trespassing."
But on its' back side it didn't say nothing.
That side was made for you and me.
In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people,
By the Relief Office I seen my people;
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking
Is this land made for you and me?
Nobody living can ever stop me,
As I go walking that Freedom Highway;
Nobody living can ever make me turn back
This land was made for you and me.
I've roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts;
And all around me a voice was sounding;
This land was made for you and me.
