The last of the big dogs - and like many of them he considered himself closer to the humans than other dogs. He had 'rock star' hair and make-up and a big smile but he was also badly injured and would badly injured others. I miss you Wilson.

I cant count the times I started this page and just couldn't finish it. It's still pretty raw.

I adopted Wilson in late 2011 from the humane society in North Bay. I had wanted a canoe dog for sometime and thought I'd start looking. At the humane society I walked up and down the kennels (heart breaking) and there were two dogs that seemed calmer than the rest so I decided I'd take both of those for a walk. The employees informed me that one of the dogs had a really bad limp. That dog turned out to be Mr. Wilson. He had a badly broken femur and the humane society could not deal with it so they were going to have him destroyed...so he came home with me and got the surgery he needed to remove part of his femur. He recovered well and became that dog he became - a gentle, intuitive, intimidating dog.

Wilson was a happy dog. He always seemed to be smiling. He LOVED people and often rushed over to make friends with a new face. He loved to give hugs and often would also rush across a room to bury his head into your chest.

I miss Wilson a lot...especially in the winter. He loved the snow and cooler temperatures. He was my constant companion and my loyal friend. He was a presence that was accounted for in decision making and a face I looked forward to seeing everyday. He gave me a lot of strength and I miss him terribly everyday.

For you Wilson, I've already raised many glasses in your memory and I have many more to lift before I am through.

I miss him a lot.
