Daniel Boucher - Le Soleil est Sorti
In listening to so much from the equivalent to CBC 2, but in French, a few singer-songwriters and bands have been enjoyed. I know nothing yet, of Daniel Boucher, but he gets mentioned about as often as guys like Louis Jean Cormier, Patrick Norman or gals like Les Soeurs Boulay, among others I've enjoyed. This particular song of Daniel Boucher struck me as a deeper, possibly darker song, without knowing more than the title lyric, which certainly sounds like we're seeing the sun leave us. Either way, I liked the song enough to remember it and share it on here.

Re: Daniel Boucher - Le Soleil est Sorti
Thanks for the song. I found it more gently upbeat than dark, but it has such a melancholy feel I still thought it would a minor progression - so I was surprised to see tunebat list it as F MAJOR.
Listen at 1:30 and then again almost exactly at 3:00 the song noticeably brightens - I thought I heard some brass in the mix. Then it drops to near silence 3:45 where the song basically re-starts with a really nice mellow grove until the final vocal push arrives. I would interpret "Le Soleil est Sorti" as the "The Sun is Out" (in English a 'sortie' is a military term for heading out), and this would also lighten the interpretation.
Overall a smooth blend of gently uplifting folk and some great melancholic guitar chords.

Le soleil est sorti Daniel Boucher (2008)
Le soleil est sorti
Le monde se réveille
Comme si c'était le début
D’une nouvelle vie
Le soleil est sorti
Le monde se réveille
Comme si c'était le début
D'une nouvelle vie
Heille, checke, fait soleil
On fait-tu pareil?
On s’fait-tu soleil?
On jette aux poubelles
Toutes nos vieilles affaires
On fait-tu l'ménage?
On s'fait-tu clair?
Heille, checke, fait soleil
On fait-tu pareil?
On s'fait-tu soleil?
On jette aux poubelles
Toutes nos vieilles affaires
On fait-tu l'ménage?
On s'fait-tu clair?
Le soleil est sorti
Le monde se réveille
Comme si c'était le début
D'une nouvelle vie
Dis-moi, donc, «oui»
Sers ton parapluie
On jette aux poubelles
Toutes nos vieilles affaires
On fait-tu l’ménage?
On s’fait-tu clair?
The line "Heille, checke, fait soleil on fait-tu pareil?" is tricky to me.

Hey, check it out, is the sun

Do you sun yourself?

Do you do this housework?
Do you make yourself clear?

Thanks for the lyrics and the crude translation! As per the F Major, I went on Tunebat and tried my harmonica. The F worked at times, but then didn't...same with C. It's possible there is a chord change in the song, but it's also possible Tunebat was wrong or maybe with a different harmonica it might have sounded fine right through. Je ne sais pas!

Re: Daniel Boucher - Le Soleil est Sorti
I never looked into to tunebat. I assume it just analyzes a song and tell you the dominant chord, most songs must have a few chords. Listen to the 1:30 - 2:00 part, at 1:50 it sounds it ends in a minor but then back to the major. Then again at 3:18-3:20 that minor shift.
At the 1:00 his voice is backed my another very quiet voice. Right before 3:00 it there is nice drawn-out, washed-out guitar (I call it 'Blue Rodeo' /Cowboy Junkies guitar - what it the real term?).
At 3:38 the sound guys cranks the 'phase' effect!
I ended up reading a interview with Boucher, he talked about his love for the Beatles, Le Soleil est Sorti being his favorite album and which song was inspired by hashish and a little red wine (haschich & un peu de vin rouge) it's entitled "ablazdablouéyaranachouizéyagaouère" )
Upon repeated listening I reminded of David Bowie's Sunmachine (aka Memories of a Free Festival). Something about their slow starts and lyrics about people gathering in the sunlight.
"The Sun Machine is coming down, and we're gonna have a party."
