Cyberppunk Update

In the 1990s we played a RPG called 'Cyberpunk 2020', so let's check out how the real-world is doing in 2020...


1) "CGI Influencer Lil Miquela Signs With Talent Agency CAA"
So the first 'CGI-rendered spokesmodel' signed with the CAA talent agency. The 'virtual' spokesmodel was designed to sell clothing and endorse brands by having a large social media following. I watched a video and she was a sassy millennial complaining about a old man sexually harassing her. Real rape victims have accused the talent agency CAA of being Harvey Weinstein's “pimps".

So.... a CGI model whose "brand partnership" clothing makes her so sexy she complains of sexual harassment has a signed a contract with a agency notorious for "pimping" real humans...

2) The Great African IP Address Heist

Over several months, MyBroadband worked with Guilmette to look into the apparent theft of, and squatting on, vast swaths of valuable Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.One portion of the investigation uncovered how, Elad Cohen, an insider at Africa’s Regional Internet Registry, AFRINIC, misappropriated large IP address blocks from AFRINIC’s free pool of addresses. This free pool is the IP address space that AFRINIC holds in trust to give out to people or organisations that legitimately qualify to receive IP address space under its rules. At least one person inside AFRINIC helped themselves to these unassigned IP addresses and sold them on the black market.

So.... Africans not only lost their real resources to greedy Europeans but their virtual addresses too!

Interesting to see two references to '2012' in 2011...


I sometimes struggle with the sheer amount of knowledge I've pursued. After semi-starving for 20+ years, the internet was a firehose of information. Weirdo occult interests and then professing just hyper-charged it all. How am I suppose to be sane?

At this moment I was also fascinated with blogs (or Amazon reviews) written by people with schizophrenia. I hope that doesn't sound exploitative because - like the Zen poetry I was also into - it deeply resonated with me. The bio is still a gut-punch. A majority of the schizophrenic writings I've found are from military kids (either Canadian or American), I could speculate but I'm not sure why.

'They did not feed me as a child. I do not fight there wars as an adult' is Zen.
