1) The ability of the media to dictate the common interests of the whole nation is scary. This is why the corporate media is the modern priesthood and the single largest enemy of the people. Most topics are the result of a multi-million dollar PR campaign to make them be the top search. Topics that sweep the nation are home-runs for certain ad agencies.
2) The topics themselves are horrifyingly vapid. I don't even know most of them because they were so disposable. 7 Rings? Billie Elliesh? JoJo Rabbit? The Weekend? The near start of a major war with Iran barely makes a dent.
