The Flesh Failures - Let The Sunshine In (1979)

At a relatives flipping through old piano books and encountered this song. Look it up when I get home. What strange lyrics!
"I fashion my future on films in space.....singing my space songs on a spiderweb sitar......answer for Timothy Leary, deary!" What exactly was going on?
I watched a few versions before I came across this clip from the 1979 film Hair (based on the 1969 musical that had this song in it). The first minute was confusing because it is the very end of the film I haven't seen and seemed to have nothing to do with the song. By the end of the 5 minutes clip I was in stunned silence with tears welling up.....
A year later in 1980, Ronald “If it takes a bloodbath, let's get it over with” Reagan is elected President with a CIA director as his Vice President. For his inauguration there is limo-gridlock as America embraces its own darkness. The reason America is so impenetrably dark now is too make up for moments like this when the light shone so brightly.
We starve, look at one another short of breath
walking proudly in our winter coats wearing smells from laboratories
Facing a dying nation of moving paper fantasies, listening for the new told lies
with supreme visions of lonely tunes.
Somewhere, inside something , there is a rush of greatness

It's like watching a developmentally delayed child play with a gun, the feeling of empathy is overwhelmed by the horror.
I'm hoping the best outcome for all American and absolute justice for the all the victims of US murderous aggression.

There is a version of the 'Q Shaman' at every large leftist protest too.
The NeoCon New Age is a real thing.
CIA director James Woolsey working the UFO and Green Energy and Open Source voting circuits is just a small tip in that iceberg, Nazi and Victorians come flooding into..
One American 'New Age' died in the mass graves of Heracles airplane and AIDs hospices, (perhaps another died in the ashes of the Twin Towers), this is still 110% New Age.
If it wasn't a Trump cult I'd have so much more sympathy.
