Can you imagine giving up on R2N? Just slinking away with a word? Some of us are the 'true conservatives', we just don't give up on things for the latest spectacle designed to tickle our testicles and neurons. We're still here alone. It's easier with a crowd but ethics aren't concerned with ease. I'm here because I don't know how to live a life that way.

It's Saturday night, we are listening to https://www.reddit.com/r/industrialmusic/comments/kyx0o8/saddest_industrial_tracks/ and drinking. The rest of the universe is welcome to join me. Until dawn there is only us and the music. I might have the endurance for a lifetime commitment but not another second of being "North American" or whatever the $^#! this culture is supposed to produce.

I can say this much. I had a father who killed himself, and it rings true. When a parent ends his/her life you question your worth. I was left with so many questions. I can honestly say he didn't make this song for others, but more for himself.

As a mother, this song has literally saved my life. Every time I feel suicidal I listen to it and remember that there are consequences.

Though you are gone...I am still your sister....and though your pain is over ..mine has just begun.......This song is for my brother! 12-5-77 to 5-2-17...I love you and miss you brother!!!

This song is for one of my best friends, Jimmy. Rest in Peace my brother. Gone but never forgotten. I fucking love you so much.

It wasn't intentional. My father destroyed himself over years of self-neglect. Could I have stopped it?

Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about.

Now time to lift a glass to Yugoslavia! As recommended by our Youtubian Overlords. Melancholy overtime.

R2N can't go down without a fight. There was rumours of a suitable replacement but it hasn't manifested yet.

Time to put some lifeblood into R2N again?

My lifeblood still flows here.

The best of the batch:

Remember the weirdo who was happier inside of his car where no one could touch him? Well....

Numan has openly discussed these difficulties and in an interview with The Evening Standard, May 7th 2002 he stated:

“Although Gemma really wants children, and it is important to me too, she is a thousand times more important to me. Through all this, my only concern was not about whether it has worked but how it would affect Gemma.” He says the first time they went through the process, only to lose the baby after 12 weeks, was the most difficult. “That was the worst because we actually had a baby on the way. It was absolutely terrible and we were devastated. There were a lot of tears. And when the most recent attempt failed, in February, that was pretty grim, too, because we had two weeks when our hopes were raised, but then they were dashed again.”

The song “A Prayer for the Unborn” takes its title from a Catholic prayer and is a deeply personal song reflecting on the troubles of failed fertility treatments and two of these tragically ending in miscarriages.

So he wrote this condemnation of god like only a man who lost a child can. Numan condemns God for failing to be a more protective father - and at some point the lyrics become the stillborn babes condemning Numan for his failure to protect them. I'm not sure Numan is conscious of this, but the line "If you are my father, then love lies abandoned and bleeding" blurs it all into a gut-punch.

This is is Old Testament Job territory (aka the question of theodicy) done in a New Testament Child-to-Parent pleading voice. It's not philosophical deep but Numan's quavering voice in this live performance and the swells of glorious synth are all that's needed.

Verse 1]
So, I prayed - but you weren't listening
Making miracles?
So, I begged -but you were far away
Saving souls perhaps?
So, I screamed - but she was very small
And you have worlds to mend
So, she died
....and you were glorious
But you were somewhere else

[Chorus 1]
If you are my shepherd
Then I'm lost and no-one can find me
If you are my saviour
Then I'm dead and no-one can help me
If you are my glory
Then I'm sick and no-one can cure me
If you light my darkness
Then I'm blind and no-one can see me

[Chorus 2]
If you are my father
Then love lies abandoned and bleeding
If you are my comfort
Then nightmares are real and deceiving
If you are my answer
Then I must have asked the wrong question
I'd spit on your heaven
If I could find one to believe in

I see some comment that recommend this mix - but the live one is still my favorite

Steph questioned me calling Numan a "weirdo" but after seeing his history as a Margret Thatcher-supporting, Japanese fascist pilot cos-player(!), she removed her objection. These anal nerds who don't want to be touched don't often turn out well....

Numan, "I'm not socialist, I know that. I don't believe in sharing my money."  Just another f'ing Billy Corgan...

He moved to California in 2012 to escape rioting in London that occurred after police shootings.... how did that work out?

He married a member of his fan-club, flew jet fighters, and spent $$$ until they got him the daughters that biology won't.

No-one ever touched him.

That's why Gary Anthony James Webb is still doing Job's plight in his 50s. [actually he's closer to Abraham if you know your bible]

But when those synths wash over and his plea escapes even his control - its still a great song.
