Well I will introduce my character and Linda's character (for as long as they may live).  I used random generators to get this info.

Please feel free to add your story or connection to these characters.

Dr. Brandon Frost is a medical doctor who worked as a GP in Madison, Wisconsin.  He is in his early 40's and is above average height and slender with rough features, short, wavy, reddish brown hair, and dark blue eyes.  He abhors violence and fast cars but loves a challenge.  He has a weakness for gluttony, and strives for humility. He lives with his two dogs (Vanilla - a spaniel mix and Toby - a lab mix) and fiancee (Emma Sullivan).

Emma Sullivan is a Park Ranger in her early 40s. Emma works in Madison, Wisconsin in Madison Audubon's Goose Pond Sanctuary. She is tall and stocky with smooth features, very long, wavy, dirty blonde hair, and dark blue eyes. She is annoyed by foolish bravery, but a sucker for endangered waterfowl. Emma has a weakness for gluttony, and strives for diligence. She lives with her two dogs (Vanilla - a spaniel mix and Toby - a lab mix) and her fiance (Dr. Brandon Frost).

Brandon and Emma were travelling to Muldraugh, Kentucky to visit family for the xmas holidays.

And here's my character! Seth Shadow

Before the disease, Seth was an unemployed survivalist fanatic. From an early age he had always felt Like something big was going to happen in his lifetime so instead of spending time making friends he stayed in his room, doing research and constantly training. He would've been completely ready to move off the grid and be self-sustaining in five years but the disease hit to fast.... to quickly.

Now he's 20, He's spent the majority of the collapse A loner, running from house to house, town to town even! constantly collecting supplies and moving on. He's picked up a plethora of tips and tricks on how to stay alive on the move and he's done quite well for himself so far. After raiding several sport retail stores he's put together a makeshift armor out of padding and safety Gear that he's painted A blackish grey to Help stay in the background. Although Seth has always been a loner is also carried with him a strong sense of honor and duty towards preserving and protecting those to weak or inexperienced to do so themselves. He's tried to do so before but such incidents have ended badly, with either his newfound apprentice running away getting killed or going insane.

As food is slowly Dwindling In this small Kentucky town, Seth Is contemplating on moving forward to the next. Until he stumbles into an unlikely party of survivors...

I used the 'simple gen (some fantasy)" and 'quirks'.

My name is Jafari Abdeljilil but most called me Pappy (after his home village of Jejpapi). I'm an African Male who is Educated (see job) and Holy (he became a Pentecostal at an Africa mission). He has a Missing A Limb and uses Prosthetic) (he lost a leg to hookworm before moving to Kentucky - I will see if there is a corresponding trait). His job is corporate librarian. He is in his 30s and is Lanky with Close-cropped Hair.

I will let my interest, feelings and quirk come out in gameplay - but I feel this guy was just a hard-working, chuch-goer who felt lucky to be in American and be able to send cheques back to his home village. The apocalypse has caught him completely off-guard, but since he grew up in rural Africa so he is not completely helpless.

For the prosthetic leg I would suggest taking the overweight trait to simulate not having much stamina and not being able to run fast. I know there is at least three traits that will decrease your running speed and stamina. Other than that, Great picture Razz

What are the other two traits that reduce speed? I went through this trait list from the wiki and could only find overweight to reduce speed.

Overweight and Obese Both the decrease speed but he can only pick one, obese is the much more severe one obviously, Asthmatic Severely decreases your Running endurance, Though it also affects your melee endurance as well. Picking those two would give you 15 points to work with, which I daresay is pretty damn good!

If Seth's character is deaf than we don't need to worry about finding a way for him to join the phone 'chat' we use silent I assume there is an in-game chat we can all still use, it is always a little clunky to have to type - especially during combat! - but it makes playing your character more meaningful.

Hello everyone, I'm enjoying reading about everyone's characters and I look forward to playing tonight!

My character, Paige Owens, was a lumberjack prior to this perilous new world.  Working in the forest, Paige, developed a thick skin covered in callouses (handy against biting insects and wouldn't you know it -zombies Wink ).  She has a lot of trouble sleeping because she is very upset and full of wrath about the loss of innocence in the world (due to the spreading corruption).  Paige tries to calm herself by learning new skills through reading.

hehe Actually I only take Deaf because I don't play Project Z with sound on Razz I listen to music as I play, I only took it this time because I needed it for my Optimum runner build Razz Like I said previously my character has been training for an Apocalypse like Scenario for years so he's abnormally skilled and I want his Traits to reflect that, Which is why I chose two traits that have to do with sleeping even though there's no sleeping in multiplayer, kind of cheatsee I know but I like playing OP Characters, Though I will be role-playing my character as having very bad sleeping habits and trouble with nightmares! If you want me to get rid of deaf for the sake of the role-playing then I'm fine with it :)

OH I got a good idea! how about because I never got over my teenage rebellious stage i Wear headphones and listen to music whenever I'm out scavenging or travelling across town. In game I've always relied more upon eyesight and Scouting out an area before moving than anything else.

I was wondering if we should make a house rule regarding negative sleep traits. Basically no picking them as they are essentially free points. What are peoples thoughts?

I suppose that depends on how often we die! if the game turns out to be too easy then we can either turn up the difficulty or limit the trait system. And vice versa if the game is too hard. To be honest I've always viewed the Trait and flaw system as a way to spice up your character and your game Not to make it easier or harder, And so you don't have a carbon copy of every character in the group. I say the more that we can grab the better :)

I don't mind 'min-max'ing the traits because I would get rid of the whole balance-point systems if I could.

If you are just choosing negative traits to get more points than you have no commitment to your flaws and would eliminate them if you could. If you choose a flaw because it helps define your character than it is role-playing.

I find +/- points systems give 'balance' but at the expense of focusing players on a min-max style thinking that carries over into gameplay.

So let's all take the useless sleeping traits and use the extra points to craft the characters we want.

I really like Seth's rationalization for deafness but horror movies and games NEED spooky music and sfx to work. No other genre of movie/game is so dependent on the soundtrack for its' effect. So I would suggest that you at least keep the ambient sfx on.

Oh I'll be listening with full volume while playing with you guys! I only stop listening to the soundtrack because I'd already played 70 some hours with it on and I was getting bored Razz now that I'm playing with an actual group the way I plays going to change dramatically so it's going to be in many ways a completely new experience :)

Also Hemophobic Is a flaw where you become panicked if you perform first aid on yourself and you can't perform in on anybody else so I suggest everyone but the Dr. takes it, if only for the sake of realism! plus it gives you some extra points to work with and the doctor's job becomes ever so more important which really adds to the depth and Realism of the game.

I rolled up a new character using simple (some fantasy) but raised the number of quirks and interests.

Obeying the strange whims of the generator I'm proud to present:

Characters Hqdefault

"Jiggs" - a twenty-something albino roadie (the one on the left)
