So America killed a Hitchhiking Robot

So some Canadians made HitchBOT "a tweeting, child-sized robot"  designed to ask for car-rides and making limited small talk, it safely hitch-hiked across Canada and Germany but was quickly decapitated and gutted for parts in America. Given it's overly cutesy style - including it's godawful tweets and love of the term "bucket list" - I'd have gutted him for free.
