World War Whatever
World geopolitics is spooking me again. [Replace all the periods with exclamations to express my true feeling.]
So NATO member Turkey ambushed a Russian jet and then ambushed the ejected pilots. The USA not only OK'd this but coordinated it.
A less verifiable, but still plausibly credible report give the details of this ambush:
Since then Putin has basically promised personal revenge on Turkey's President:
Putin refused to meet Turkish President Erdogan during the climate summit in Paris on, as he has demanded an apology first over the downed plane. In response, Turkish Prime Minister has it will not apologize for defending its borders. This was “fully backed” by the NATO Secretary General during a joint press conference.
"I want to be very clear: Turkey is a NATO ally. The US supports Turkish rights to defend itself and its airspace and its territory," Obama said, referring to Article Five of the NATO treaty which “states that an attack on one ally shall be considered an attack on all allies.”
Canada’s Foreign Minister Stephane Dion said upon arrival in Brussels for the NATO meeting, “We need to support Turkey.”

NATO decided that this week they would tell Russia that Montenegro that they can also join NATO. For the first time in six years, NATO on Wednesday invited a new member to join the military alliance. The title of the article is 'Invitation For Montenegro Is Signal Moscow Cannot Stop NATO Enlargement." NATO's membership offer to Montenegro "has set off a firestorm of protest from Moscow."

The latest Paris attack has triggered an official expansion of NATO's operation in Iraq into Syria.
British warplanes bombed an ISIS-controlled oil field in eastern Syria just minutes after lawmakers in London voted to join the U.S.-led aerial campaign against the militants, officials said. The vote, which came shorly after 10 p.m. local time (5 p.m. ET) Wednesday, followed a testy 10-hour debate in which many lawmakers expressed fears of civilian casualties in Syria from the U.S.-led "Operation Inherent Resolve." Until Thursday, British warplanes have been participating only in strikes on ISIS inside Iraq. The vote was 397-223 in the House of Commons.
France was already bombing Syria and the German government turned on a dime from "no military intervention in Syria ever" to "lets wage a war of terror on Syria" without any backing from the UN or international law.
NATO's stated target in Syria are ISIS but NATO want Assad gone and state this at every chance. This is going to get sketchy.
This week, France and Germany have told Turkey’s they want to use it's strategic İncirlik air base. ISIS has already hit Turkey twice with suicide bombers after Turkey opened the İncirlik base for the U.S.-led flights - but far more frighten is that this base is only 150 km from where a the Russian Su-24 jet was ambushed, 170 km from the Khmeimim air base where Russian air forces are stationed and 225 km from the Russian naval base at Tartus in Syria, which is Russia’s only military base in the entire Middle East and Mediterranean Sea.
There has already been one mini-showdown between Turkey-NATO and Russian this week
NATO has spent it's lifetime hunting, and often killing, communist and socialist countries: North Korea, Cuba, Afghanistan, North Vietnam, Yugoslavia, and Arab Socialist countries of Libya, Iraq and now Syria. Often NATO harnessed Islamist jihadists to help in this task as jihadist hate secular socialists.
NATO & jihadists worked together in Yugoslavia, Iraq, and Libya so to find Turkey helping ISIS (arming, protecting, trading oil) is not unusual. It is interesting to see the Russian expose this.
First, here’s the bullet point summary via Reuters:

The basic situation in Syria seems to be that Russian and Iran have helped the Syria army turn the tide against the ISIS 'proto-state' that has grown up in the ruins of the Iraq and migrated to Syria. This is why ISIS has lashed out in terrorist rage against Beruit, Paris and a Russian airliner, this is why Turkey is been forced to confront Russia and keep they border open to ISIS fighters and oil.
It is possible that Turkey has forced NATO to join in this mad confrontation. A controversial tweet by a Turkish politican
So one view is that Turkey is using the treat of unleashing its tides of Syria refugee against Europe to blackmail them. Yet Turkey maybe working on NATO orders. The Russian jet shoot-down was coordinated with at least some portion of the US-NATO command.
Syria is now a simmering proxy war between NATO and Russia. Add in Iran on Syria's side, with Turkey, Saudis and other degenerate Gulf kingdoms backing ISIS as they spread the terror globally. Remember that Russia and NATO are already in another proxy war in the Ukraine.
Times are bad - but they have been bad for a while. When I grew up in the 1980s I was blissfully unaware that the US and the USSR where playing a game of chicken in a nuclear arms race. Global madness seems the norm but I just want to be clear:
The elites ruling the Western World are soulless technocrats, amoral war-criminals and ideological fanatics. History will record their crimes and stupidity. They have not renounced the use of violence to achieve profits and power.
It just has to be said sometimes.

The day before the attack the US's top airforce general visited Turkish Military Staff "to discuss the Russian airstrikes on Turkmen-populated areas in Syria". The next day a Russian aircraft was brought down in a Syriuan Turkumen area.

A less verifiable, but still plausibly credible report give the details of this ambush:
Russia Insider reports that the ambush on the Russian U-24 bomber was guided by the US Airforce. In an interview with the Russian news agency Regnum, a Russian military expert said that “A US Air Force Boeing E-3 Sentry AWACS plane took off on 24 November from the Preveza airbase in Greece. A second E-3A of the Saudi Arabian air force took off from the Riyadh airbase. Both planes were executing a common task—determining the precise location of Russian aircraft. It is they that picked the “victim.”
The American E-3A was supposed to determine the activity of the Su-24M2′s onboard targeting radar, to determine if it was in search mode or if it had already locked on to a target and was processing launch-data. It is known that the AWACS can direct the activity of aircraft in battle, conveying information to their avionics and flight computers.

Since then Putin has basically promised personal revenge on Turkey's President:
"We are not going to rattle the sabre. But, if someone thinks they can commit a heinous war crime, kill our people and get away with it, suffering nothing but a ban on tomato imports, or a few restrictions in construction or other industries, they’re delusional. We’ll remind them of what they did, more than once. They’ll regret it. We know what to do."

There has already been one mini-showdown between Turkey-NATO and Russian this week
According to an online vessel tracking system, Russian ships moved in zigzags and circles on Nov. 29, waiting for hours for permission to enter the Bosphorus. Turkey is creating obstacles for Russian ships without technically violating the right of free passage through the Turkish Straits, the online newspaper Vzglyad reports.
For instance, the Bratsk waited for permission from 10.00 to 19.00, and the Volgobalt from 3.00 to 17.00. However, as stated by the Ukrainian Center for Transport Policies, vessels belonging to the other countries passed through the straits without a delay on that day.
The Haberler.com news website reports that the transport ship Yauza was met by a Turkish submarine as it was passing through the Dardanelles on the morning of Nov. 30.
The Istanbul media reported the same day that at least two Turkish submarines were located in the vicinity of the Moskva missile cruiser (covering the Khmeimim Russian airbase in Syria). How was this resolved? Russia sent 2 submarines hunters.

Re: World War Whatever
It seems inevitable now. More and more countries are joining the bombing campaign. More and more troops are on the ground. Lines are drawn and accusations are flying. I believe this will be the start of WW(whatever).
Germany has joined in, Iraq has kicked out Turkey, Syria is saying the US bombed a base, Turkey has shot down a Russian plane, Syria is calling the UK bombing illegal...
The media is hungry for war. Every "terrorist" attack starts with an unconfirmed report that they yell "This is for Syria!" Before the attacks. Almost all the recent attacks have been conveniently time to coincide with nearly identical training exercises. There is a deliberate undercurrent pushing towards war.

Re: World War Whatever
The media is hyping every terror attack and NATO seems willing to destroy Syria just to remove Assad - the question is whether this is building to a wider war or is this is just more 'Wars of Terror' bullying? Or maybe both?
Here is an analysis of NATO bullying that spooks me:
If the war goes fully nuclear the 'Powers That Be' lose and someone else gets a shot of resetting up human society (once the radiation subsides) so they don't want that. Yet their arrogant bumbling could stumble into this type of war nonetheless. We are seeing some deep state elements moving chess pieces - but who knows what their goals are....
Here is an analysis of NATO bullying that spooks me:
n order to fully understand what is happening now we need to look at the bigger picture. The first major consequence of the shooting down of the Russian SU-24 is that NATO has now become an impunity alliance. Now that the precedent has been set by Turkey’s act of war on Russia, because that is what this shooting down undeniably was, any NATO member can now do the same thing while feeling protected by the alliance. This is an extremely dangerous development as it gives a strong incentive to any small country to deal with its inferiority complex by should its “courage” and “determination” to challenge Russia even if, of course, this is done by hiding behind NATO’s back.
NATO is also deliberately escalating its war on Russia by admitting Montenegro into the Alliance and by re-starting talks about admitting Georgia - this is yet another way for the West to thumb its nose at Russia.
We thus are facing an extremely dangerous situation:
The Russian forces in Syria are comparatively weak and isolated
Turkey can, and will, continue its provocations under the cover of NATO
The West is now preparing an (illegal) intervention inside Syria
The Western intervention will be made against Syria and Russia
NATO politicians now have an easy way to score “patriotic” points by provoking Russia
If we strip all the NATO verbiage about “defending our members” what is happening now is that the Empire has now apparently decided that going down the road to war is safe because Russia will not dare to “start” a war. In other words, this is a game of chicken in which one side dares the other to do something about it.
What the imperial deep state is missing is the fact that Russia might not have a choice but to confront the Empire. Yes, the Russians do not want war, but the problem here is that, considering the absolutely reckless arrogance and imperial hubris of the western elites, every Russian effort to avoid war is interpreted by the western deep state as a sign of weakness. In other words, by acting responsibly the Russians are now providing an incentive for the West to act even more irresponsibly. This is a very, very, dangerous dynamic....

The rightwing British rag The Daily Mail runs a strange story, the headline reads: Saving their sworn enemy: Heartstopping footage shows Israeli commandos rescuing wounded men from Syrian warzone - but WHY are they risking their lives for Islamic militants?
The key paragraph:
Dailty Mail wrote: "Israel insists that these treacherous nightly rescues are purely humanitarian, and that it can only hope to 'win hearts and minds' in Syria. But analysts suggest the Jewish state has in fact struck a deadly 'deal with the devil' – offering support to the Sunni militants who fight the Syrian ruler Assad in the hope of containing its arch enemies Hezbollah and Iran."

Israel (hearts) ISIS? That's been called 'conspiracy theory' for a few years now, so strange to hear it publicly confirmed in such an odd manner

The IMF declares that Ukraine's 3 billion debt to Russia is invalid because it is in Rubles not Dollars.
Counterpunch.org wrote: “We only enforce debts owed in US dollars to US allies.”
What should Russia do? For that matter, what should China and other BRICS countries do? The IMF and U.S. neocons have sent the world a message: you don’t have to honor debts to countries outside of the dollar area and its satellites.
This means that what was simmering as a Cold War against Russia has now turned into a full-blown division of the world into the Dollar Bloc (with its satellite Euro and other pro-U.S. currencies) and the BRICS or other countries not in the U.S. financial and military orbit.

Putin casually mentions nuclear warheads are in Syria (and that you don't hunt terrorists with nukes ... you fight a war against NATO with them)
Putin wrote:“We must analyze everything happening on the battlefield, how the weapons operate. The Kalibrs (sea based cruise missiles) and KH-101 (airborne cruise missile) have proved to be modern and highly effective, and now we know it for sure - precision weapons that can be equipped with both conventional and special warheads, which are nuclear,”
Putin said. “Naturally, this is not necessary when fighting terrorists and, I hope, will never be needed,” the president added.https://www.rt.com/news/325178-putin-nukes-missiles-isis/

Turkish jets strike Kurdish positions in Iraq amid rising tension between Ankara & Baghdad
RT wrote:
Tensions have been rising between Ankara and Baghdad after Turkey deployed hundreds of troops equipped with tanks and artillery to Iraq’s northern Nineveh Governorate last Thursday, saying they will train forces battling ISIS.
Baghdad said it had not asked for the help of Turkish forces, and demanded their withdrawal after it said Turkey had “illegally” sent the troops into Iraq. Describing the move as violation of sovereignty, the Iraqi government also asked NATO to intervene.
The Iraqi parliament's Security and Defense Committee has called for a review of their agreement with Washington on security, a committee member told RT, citing fears of an "international conflict on Iraq's territory."
Shiite paramilitary groups have threatened to use force against Turkey unless it pulls its forces out of Iraq.
