Re: My First shot at a Youtube playlist
I actually came here to post a Saturday Night Mix - so great to see one already up! Thanks, Neil.
A playlist is the way the way to go - but here are few tracks anyway for your listening pleasure
I needed a job but I didn’t really want to work
In fast food, management or advertising
Lying via media in work suit and shirt
Never really bothering or even trying
To understand or realize what I’m doing
Am I affecting anybody but my own? and
What do I owe the world or will I end up owing more?
I'd rather be high
I'd rather be flying
I'd rather be dead
Or out of my head
Than training these guns on those men in the sand
I'd rather be high
The Thames was black, the tower dark
I flew to Cairo, find my regiment
City's full of generals
And generals full of shit
I stumble to the graveyard and I
Lay down by my parents, whisper
Just remember duckies
Everybody gets got
I'd rather be high
I never watch the stars, there’s so much down here
When I grow up
I want to live near the sea
Crab claws and bottles of rum
That's what I'll have
Staring at a seashell
Waiting for it to embrace me

Re: My First shot at a Youtube playlist
'Trap Snuff' went down smoothly despite the abrupt changes the songs would make - sometimes you'd be listening to a soul song about love and heavy dub-step breaks would get dropped then back to the soul singing. Yet it all mixed well together: gangstra rap, techno beats, dub step, big bass, soul.
I thought 'trap' music meant 'Techno-RAP but I'm old and wrong. Here's the Wiki:
The playlist went beyond 'trap music' with bands like CHVRCHES (Scottish synthpop), Eiffel 65 (Italian eurodance), Razihel (Italian eurodance) but that first Fetty Wap song sounded trappy (and includes the lyrics 'my trap queen') so did Flosstradamus. All the genres blend in the playlist and honestly music has been a big melting pot in the post-Napster era.
I remember when Eminem dissed Moby saying "Moby - You're too old, go home, ain't no one listen to techno" in one of his songs. I thought "Eminem, you are on the wrong of history..." Most pop music today would have been considered experimental techno is the 1990s or a 'rave re-mix'. No one who counts can hear an 808 sub-bass kick and not go 'Ohhhhhhhh!' The surest sign Eminem was deeply mistaken is that his very words dissing techno were re-mixed into a great techno song 'Base Attack - Nobody listens to Techno' the best version is the (Bounzz Dj Team Remix). The only version of this remix I can find on the web is 3 minutes while I have a 5 minute version - still worth it:

Wikipeida wrote:The term "trap" is used to refer to the place where drug deals are made and how it is difficult to escape the lifestyle. The term originated in Atlanta, Georgia where fans and critics started to refer to rappers whose primary lyrical topic was drug dealing, as "trap rappers."
Trap music incorporates an extensive use of multi-layered hard-lined and melodic synthesizers; crisp, grimy and rhythmic snares; deep 808 sub-bass kick drums or heavy sub-bass lines; double-time, triple-time and similarly divided hi-hats; and a cinematic and symphonic utilization of string, brass and keyboard instruments creating an overall dark, harsh, grim and bleak atmosphere for the listener.
Trap music is also defined by its ominous, bleak, gritty and belligerent lyrical content which varies widely according to artist. Typical lyrical themes portrayed include observations of street life, poverty, violence, hardship in the "trap" and harsh experiences in urban surroundings

Re: My First shot at a Youtube playlist
To me trap music is just big build ups that lead into bassy raunchy breaks. It gets tired after a while. I've been to a party once a couple years ago that played trap all night and it got old quick. it's cool for about a half hour then you need something with a little more substance. I feel the same about house music. All house music seems the same after a while. I think you can turn any song into a trap song if you know the formula.
I remember when I hear a few trap songs for the first time and thought that it must be a new type of genre... not electronic, or dance, or house.. but it defiantly something.
I think that middle paragraph you quoted from Wiki is what I consider trap music.... the last paragraph is what that Fetty Wap was talking about.
Its fun and makes my sub go crazy and blows lotsa air on my feet :)
