Bluesfest 2016
So some of you may know that I've been volunteering at bluesfest for the past 3 years. I first started doing it for the free admission to the shows but now i do it cuz its pretty fun and quite the experience and the food they give ya when you work can be spectacular. I had a pulled pork sandwich on pretzel bun last year with a bunch of awesome sides and I must say that it was my most favorite meal last year. I'm not saying the food is always good but at least they give you a meal when you work a 5 hour shift.
I work the beer tents running the cash. The first year was kinda hard cuz you had to do math (not really hard but working out the totals of 4 different types of drinks and their prices are weird like $5.65 or whatever) but the second year they started giving us tablets to punch in the orders and rounded all the prices to the nearest dollar, so it's pretty easy now.
I've toyed with the idea of not volunteering and just paying for a pass but I don't think I'll ever do it. First, you don't get searched too hard if you use the volunteer entrance so I can sneak vodka and doobies in. Second, I'd miss out on the free food. Third, I'm cheap.
You only have to work 4 shifts to get into all the concerts for free so I just schedule my shifts accordingly so I'm not working when someone I want to see is playing. Or I try to pick a beer tent that has a good view of the stage but that is hard to do cuz they move the tents around every year so I could get screwed (last year i tried to catch Chvrches while working but I was a bit too far to enjoy the show). The first year I got lucky and was able to watch the Black Keys with a perfect view. The early shifts on the weekend are great if you just want to sit there and do nothing. Not too many people are drinking at 4:00 in the afternoon. I do try to work the country nights cuz I have learned that the hottest.... HOTTEST chicks go to those shows. I was amazed the first year when I saw it. But last year's country night was the worst shift of the festival. Sure they are hot but sooooooo annoying! "Does this have Gluten in it? Cuz I'm allergic to gluten" oh man. I got into a bunch of arguments that night.
I'm posting this cuz the lineup just got announced a couple hours ago and there are some great acts on it. The ones I'm pumped to see are Earl Sweatshirt, Duran Duran, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lumineers, Zed's Dead, and The Monkees?!?!? I hope it's the old school Monkees but i'm not sure. Anyways, here is the full lineup.

Re: Bluesfest 2016
Not the line-up I would have suspected from a 'blues-fest'. The Cult? Billy Idol?
How are Zeds Dead live? Having heard their 'you know' song on a few of your mixes they have caught my attention.
Here is a great Sneaker Pimp cover of Duran Duran:
And a 'Half Moon Run' song that Steph recommended:

Re: Bluesfest 2016
I think it stopped trying to be a "Blues-Fest" like 10 years ago. Now it's just a name I think.
Zed's Dead is awesome live. Last year they were on before Skrillex and I wasn't too drunk at the time so I actually remember it. Skrillex is kinda choppy tho. I do have a real problem of getting way too drunk before seeing the band I want to see. Childish Gambino 2 years ago is one still frame picture in my mind and that is it. oh I was pissed at that.
Thanks for that tune Steph. I think I've heard it before...
Peter Bjorn and John is gonna be there... I'll get to whistle that tune for weeks now.
