USA vs Japan Giant Robot fight

Apparently it is still happening just taking longer than expected. They just released a video testing whether the pilot will survive. Here is the video.



The canopy on it just doesn't look all that strong.

Perhaps the most interesting part of this story is that China has now also entered the competition. They will fight the USA some time after Japan. I believe Korea may also be working on a mech.

So I had what I thought were extremely low expectations for this event and it was still a let down. It was basically a tractor with a ram driving into a stationary pillar.

They have a long way to go even to reach this.

There was that point when watching Robotech a third or forth time where I realized that mecha make no military sense. Making a giant robot walk on two legs is simply not a good tactical design.

Having bulldozer destruction derbies, on the other hand, should be heavily subsidized by all governments and made into an olympic sport.

It really dosen't make any military sense to build bipedal robots.

The Korean mech is the best mech going (that I know of) right now. Here is a link to some info and videos about it.
