Hard to find Songs

So I have no idea cEvin Key was part of Images in Vogue and when I listened to some of their songs I was even more surprized!

Great chronology though! I like how their first band Fuck Brothers recorded their first song on the first day.

Are we at the point that we need a band name?

I saw Stef working on Bites (August 1985) so I'll work on Remission (Dec 1984) - that only leaves the Back & Forth demo tape (Early 1984).

I wonder if Skinny Puppy start as an Images in Vogue's side-project for Key to indulge his darker side? Also Ogre is roommate to another IIV member, Gary Blair Smith, between May 1983 and the next spring according to the chronology.

What kind of work are we doing on the records?

Having fun going through old Skinny Puppy - whatever excuse you can create to do this is good enough.    

Stef is somewhat secretive about her project, I think it might be individual song reviews.

I read a quote that said Remission sounded like Portion Control and Nocturnal Emissions so I listened to some Youtube video of obscure bands, so I'll post some of the better songs.

I'm not going to get much further into the hardware side but it does make the music more real to me. My goals are vague - but I've been able to discover new underground music from the early 80s, learn some production tricks for our own jamming and understand SP's roots and music a little better.

With IIV there would be no Skinny Puppy. It's members, producer, workspace and equipment (PCM41 delay for production & monitor speakers for shows) are the foundation that SP grows from.

Between its formation in 1981 until June 1985, Key will be Images in Vogue's drummer.  IIV was a Vancouver synth-pop band touring local clubs with their version of the popular "Euro-Sound". When the "New Romantic synth invasion" occurs with bands like Duran Duran and Depeche Mode (both of who IIV would open for) the band's popularity soared and they won a JUNO award in 1985.
It is in the context of that Euro-Sound/Synth-Pop/New Wave/New Romantic explosion that IIV and SP are formed.

This occurs during the latter half of 'Summer - November of 1983' when Ogre becomes involved in Skinny Puppy and much of Back and Forth is recorded.  In January of 1984 Key and Ogre will get some free studio time and record 'Sleeping Beast' in Mushroom Studios where SP will eventually record 11 of their albums. This last song completes the 'Back and Forth' demo tape. They will make 35 copies and begin doing local shows.

During 1984 Key will tour with IIV as the opener for Duran Duran, he will also give a guy at a brand new Vancouver record label a copy of 'Back and Forth', he will like it enough to commission an album. So in December of 1984, Nettwark Record will release Remission as one of its flagship releases.

Key wrote:At that point we made a tape, it was like a 30 minute tape, we must have sold about 50 copies around the city. At the exact same time Nettwerk was starting out of this guys apartment, I knew him from the record store and I gave him a tape. He said that if we were going to be doing any more recording then give me a copy. He released 3 records at the same time and one of the them was Remission
