Nothing says summer like discussing zombie games on r2n, so have you heard anything about Death Road to Canada?

Website Sales Pitch wrote:Death Road to Canada is a Randomly Generated Road Trip Action-RPG inspired by The Oregon Trail, building that basic model of travel and resource management with a flair for the weird and funny

You have to manage a car full of jerks as they explore cities, find weird people, and face up to 500 zombies at once.
Everything's randomized: locations, events, survivor personalities. There's a different story every time you play.

Find special events, rare encounters, and unique recruits. Find a grunting super-bodybuilder. Try to tame half-wild dogs.
Survivors have different personalities and quirks that may help or hinder you.
Create characters to find in the game. Make yourself, friends, family, and more!

Fight or flee from increasingly gigantic hordes of slow, classic-style zombies.
Be careful, death is permanent!

Make tough choices in Interactive Fiction text events. Get different results based on the traits of people in your group.
Start in Florida and try survive the journey to Canada, the last zombie-free nation!

I haven't heard of it but it's got a pug with a shotgun, over the top action, and randomization. I will be checking it out for sure!

Zombie Game? Empty Re: Zombie Game?

Death Road to Canada has been a really fun game. Linda and I discovered that using zombo points to level up perks is vital. We used our points to level up the surgeon and mechanic skills. The surgeon skill now gave a high medical value to start the game and the mechanic now started with a high mechanic skill.

Lemon and Gaston's Story

We started our game with Lemon the surgeon and Gaston the french mechanic. After a few sucessful loots another highly trained medic named Carter joined the group. Carter was very loyal and generally quite helpful. He "volunteered" for all the dangerous missions (we already had Lemon the surgeon). The sucess continued and then Lemon and Gaston met Alvis. Alvis was a martial artist and singer. He was a devestating combat force. The crew of 4 found a fabulous cache of weopons (I forget where) and were now well loaded with over 300 ammo, 2 aluminum baseball bats, a sledgehammer, a sturdy machete, grenade, several pistols, and a shotgun. Lemon who had previously been fighting with a scapel was now equiped with a 90 round pistol and an aluminum baseball bat. Gaston carried the sturdy machete, the sledge, and when zombies were thick either explosives or the shotgun.  Surpizingly Gaston never ended up using his mechanic skills. The crew were doing fantastic, except for one problem - food. It got bad enough that with 1 or 2 days left to Canada, Carter left the group. The 3 heroes made a push for the border. After some close calls with zombies leading up the border they made it to a giant show down at the border. An army of angry undead was now between them and Canada. Alvis immediately began devestating the zombies but he got too cocky and was eventually pulled down and ripped apart by the zombies. Gaston was viciously hacking his way through swarms of zombies while Lemon bashed their teeth out with a bat. The zombies became thicker, and thicker. Gaston switched to his shotgun and blasted row after row of zombies. The zombies still approached and eventually overpowered Gaston ripping him apart. Lemon was the only one left. She ran around and around avoiding massive groups of zombies over and over again. Could Lemon survive the seige and make it? While Lemon was cutting through a small alleyway to avoid a mass of zombies she encountered another mass of zombies at the other end. Quickly she turned around and ran back to escape the alley but it was too late. The zombies were already there. Emptying her pistol into the zombies as they approached. She was overwhelmed and ripped apart by the zombies. So close.

Sounds like a good run.

I'm glad those 'zombie points' help because when reading about the beaver I realized that there was a final border battle and we were barely scraping my to get to the border. Food always seemed to be the major limiting factor.

We'll probably try the game this weekend. Today is the first day that internet has been working - all those passing storms - hopefully it will last till tonight.
