Zombie Jamboree
Time for more Moogy funk courtesy of the French band Zombie Zombie.
First off a great cover of John Carpenter's classic theme song for his 1976 movie 'Assault on Prescient 13'
Here is Carpenter's original. This is a masterpiece of minimalist synth and drum-machine
Next - a spooky track that starts with thick slabs of bass and ends with a chorus of howling oscillators. A personal favorite.
If you like either of the first two songs here is 45 minutes of the same style from 2012:
They cover Sun Ra's high velocity jazz jam by cooling in the vaccuum of space until it transformed into a mellow chunk of chill.
Here is the original. There are a few covers of this song yet none of them faithfully re-do the glorious ending of the original where the band yells out "ALL OUT FOR JUPITER". I made my own version of the Zombie Zombie cover just to cut'n'paste that ending on.

"When I did my original themes for [Assault] … it was done with very old technology," said Carpenter. "It was very difficult to get the sounds, and it took very long to get something simple."
The main title theme, partially inspired by both Lalo Schifrin's score to Dirty Harry and Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song", is composed of a pop synthesizer riff with a drum machine underneath that "builds only in texture, but not thematically," with a held, high synthesizer note with no other changes except inner frequency modulations. Dave Goldner of SFX wrote that Assault had "one of the most catchy theme tunes in film history."
