Liberal Family Tree
Based on the information Torgo linked to, I've made up a Liberal Family Tree at this link
The mapping of these interrelationships shows who exactly is benefiting from P3 cash-grabs and how these are the same people who are promoting P3 within the government and handing out the contracts.

Re: Liberal Family Tree
I am having a lot of trouble finding it. Is there any way you can try linking it again?
Re: Liberal Family Tree
It was crazy - I basically had to use guesswork to write a new address - but it should work.
Here is a list of previous maps I have made.
I don't know how much others will get out at looking at these maps - they are basically a bunch of lines - but I learned tons by making them. My media ethics maps from 2009 seem crazy to me now but understanding all those overlapping connections was formative in how I now look at the media and elite society in general. Rich people give each other jobs and intermarry and donate $$$ to politicians. The idea that NBC is on the 'left' and FOX is on the 'right' is a fucking joke. These maps made sociological analysis of power real to me.
If you want to get something from the maps you will have to treat them as a puzzle. Pick one person and see how the web spreads. Ask yourself why those connections matter. Re-arrange the chart. Change the colour and thickness of lines to indicated different relations. Add a new link.
Muck around for an hour with a map and you are doing sociology.

Re: Liberal Family Tree
The original map link worked when I clicked on it today.
And wow...it is like inbreeding. Everyone is tied to everyone else.
I like how Geoff Smith is the CEO of EllisDon construction and Director for the Canadian Council of Public Private partnerships. EllisDon is the firm most often used in the construction of hospitals. The council also has Bert Clark who is managing director of Scotia Banking Global and he is the Son of Ed Clark who is also CEO of TD bank and head advisory council on government assets to Kathleen Wynne. Both banks are making a killing off of P3 contracts and well as EllisDon. How any of this is not a conflict of interest blows my mind.

Re: Liberal Family Tree
The two basic messages I got from making the map were:
1) the EllisDon construction firm gets 1/3 of all 3P contracts and the firm is run by two generations of Liberal insiders who control who gets the contracts
2) Bay Street law firms and Banks make millions in handling 3P contracts and so have a vested interest in privatization ideology.
