PZ Server Settings and game time
So what is everyone's thoughts on what to do about randomizing settings? Do we just want to go with what it currently is? Are we looking to redo the zombie settings only? Loot settings? Let me know and I will adjust it tomorrow.
Other than that is everyone good with meeting again on Saturday July 4th at 8:30pm (your time)? Maybe we should meet in forum chat a little before that time to discuss anything?

I'm fine with Our normal time :) as for the settings, I feel that the zombie setting should DEFINITELY be randomized, However the rest of the settings I feel should be Set by hand to complement the role-play aspect of our sessions. Loot setting should definitely be set on rare, character setting should stay the same as we don't want to handicap ourselves or give ourselves bonuses, and the time and setting (weather, rain, hours per day) should be set to what most complements our role play And preferences.
I also think we should meet like half an hour before we start to have a little pregame session :)

Re: PZ Server Settings and game time
Here is a list of settings. I will read this link later and give my thoughts.
My basic feeling is the inverse of Seth's: settings don't need to complement our RPGing - but rather our RPGing should emerge from the settings. Even flat-out glitches like no axes can be springboards for RPGing.
This is probably because I want to escape the tedium of farming so I much rather have a short savage world where the man with a single ax is king and they we all die. But it also comes from the sense of real uncertainty the occurs when setting could possibly be unfair. I want to keep the zombie apocalypse apocalyptic. I realize this might cross the line into unfun so I can be convinced otherwise - but to me a successful PZ campaign (i.e re-starting agriculture) sounds unfun... I'm going to think about this.
Skimming the list I would be tempted to increase XP modifiers so that characters become more proficient quickly. No one likes a useless character and it makes you more invested in your character.

Re: PZ Server Settings and game time
Eh I just don't want to suddenly be playing in the middle of Winter where the days last 12 hours and there's an overabundance of food but no weapons, where the electricity still works but the water is for some reason off where the world is absolutely brimming with unrealistic numbers of zombies that have the eyes of an eagle and the speed of a track runner I like some variety especially with my zombies but I also like my games to be realistic, I can deal with less food and less weapons and equipment but some of the options on that game if turned up completely make it impossible to survive more than a day.
So my closing statement, random elements are lovely but only in moderation.
Also I kinda wanna see my character grow and not just keep having to replace him

Re: PZ Server Settings and game time
There is no "realistic" number or type of zombies.
Nor is there a "realistic" amount of water and food in an apocalypse that could be modeled by this game of this sort. Even the most detailed simulation could not predict the sheer chaos and randomness that an apocalypse represents.
There are no "realistic" arguments but there are "unfun" arguments.

I'm willing to randomize completely but my survivalist Instincts scream not to.
Eh What the hell! I'm fine with Randomizing fully :)
But be warned! If my character dies I'm probably going to make a brutal dictator as my next character >

I won't change the date for continuity, if everyone is ok with that. I also won't change the lenght of day for simplicity sake...I was also thinking of leaving all farming erosion stuff alone. Otherwise everything is fair game! Sound good?
I like the idea of not knowing what to expect. If we all get killed then the next group can will discover them and their story.

One of the really cool Features of the game Is that your previous characters that die from infection are actually raised as zombies, with all their supplies as well. I've killed my own character quite a few times and it's... An interesting feeling.

Re: PZ Server Settings and game time
Reading that list most of the setting don't seem that imporant.
My vote is to keep the same basic setting as before because I don't know what they, they seem to work and it keeps continuity BUT randomize the zombie setting because I do know what they are and we can say it is the progression of the disease.

I don't remember all of the previous settings so what I remember I will input otherwise it will get randomized as well. All zombie traits will be randomized.
