Old-time Religion Empty Old-time Religion

Robert Parry is an old-school investigative reporter who covered the 1980s Washington DC scene for the prestigious wire-service Associated Press (AP). Parry's experience in the 1980s forced him to realize that major stories of government corruption were being shelved, and so he began a website called consortiumnews.com at the very early date of 1995.

Here is Robert Parry describing the current state of the Republican Party:

"Israel possesses extraordinary political and media influence inside the United States – and Saudi Arabia wields its oil and financial resources to keep American officialdom in line. Together, the Israeli-Saudi bloc now controls virtually the entire Republican Party, which holds majorities in both chambers of Congress, and dominates most mainstream Democrats as well."

Just think about that paragraph for a moment.

Here is a man not given to hyperbole stating that one major political party in the USA is under near complete control by foreign powers and the only other American political party is partially controlled.

Both foreign nations are strongly influenced by two of the most anti-modernist, anti-Enlightenment fundamentalist religions currently in existence - Islamic Wahabism and Ultra-Orthodox Judaism. The Republicans party itself is strongly beholden to a a variety of virulent strains of Protestant fundamentalism.

Now, here is the introduction to another article on ConsortiumNews.com, this time a piece by history professor Lawrence Davidson (he obtained his PhD in modern European Intellectual history at the University of Alberta before returning to the US):

"The American people, who still want to stop Sunni jihadists like Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State, are only dimly aware that longtime U.S. “allies” – Israel and Saudi Arabia – have shifted into an effective alliance with those Sunni jihadists as part of their regional war against Iran and Shiite Islam."

ConsortiumNews is liberal site (but not a radical, conspiratorial or even leftist one), and you get the feeling that what they print has been fact-checked at least once, and from their analysis we must assume that a driving dynamic in current geo-politics is that Israeli-Saudi bloc is both supporting ISIS/Al-Qaeda (the 9-11 attackers were after all Saudis) and has control of the US Republican party! Shocked

Who needs wild conspiracy sites when this is what old-school journalists are reporting?
