Minecraft VR

An interesting demo. Someday 'tabletop' gaming might mean gathering around the top of a V.R table...

Well there are already tabletop and boardgames that have been transferred into the virtual world



Though I don't know many people who would give up the comfort of his computer chair and a big screen for a pair of VR goggles and a table...

The presentation was real awkward though but the tech is quite amazing, and though I don't see it being of any relevance in a mine craft game I feel that it has a great market in real time grand strategy games. Just imagine the thrill of looking down on your table to see a massive battlefield, having your troops be guided by your fingertips and not your mouse. Now that is something I would be interested in!

hell it would even be interesting to have an overview of a fighting game per se, Mortal Kombat spectator mode? An overview of a small Skirmishe between two feudal lords? Yes please!!!

I didn't post the first minecraft-VR demo video I saw because it had an even longer and thus more awkward intro. Personally, I've been waiting for a VR-table since 1985 when I first saw one in a Robotech episode...

I highly doubt anyone would be against an actual VR table but right now the only work with goggles :/
if you didn't know everyone in that conference room were basically staring at an empty table, they can only see what the guy with goggles was seeing on the big screen.

Goggles/glasses have always been a big part to overcome - and why I have avoided the subject for decades - but since I graduated from anime 'mecha' soap-operas to straight-up Cyberpunk RPGs in the early 1990s I'm also awaiting cybernetic eye implants.

The occupation of Iraq was a boon to the prosthetic/head-injury medical field and the 'full spectrum' cyber-warrior ideal, so I'm sure 'cyber-eyes' prototypes are out there.

Honestly it won't be 'the future' to me unless: a) implanted electronics are the norm b) space colonies are producing goods c) genetic engineering is done for aesthetic value. If someday youngsters all have shiny cyber-eyes and rainbow-coloured skin genes and can wirelessly pirate the latest mini-series produced on the Moon to the HD in their forearm, I will say 'Yep, that's the future'.

We might have to wait for a few civilizations to rise and fall before any of those happen
