Young Pictures of Hershey
I am going to share some pictures of young Hershey. Some of these will be shortly after I got her in 2004. I will share some stories and more pictures of Hershey soon.
Re: Young Pictures of Hershey
Hershey looks not just young but her fur is so dark. Occasionally some of her fur would be shed due to illness but it would grow back in such dark patches so I began to suspect that she must have had darker fun in youth but it is still surprising to see how chocolatey it was. Great to see Rocky & Hersh together too.

That looked a lot like one I had, however, they have a very different feel to them.

Great shots. She really had a life well lived: plenty of adventure, good friends (both dogs and humans), a hearty appetite, and a few peaceful twilight years. I'll miss your presence Hersh, but there is not much to regret about your life.

Not sure what to post this under but the day after Hershey passed I had a dream where I was holding her. It felt very real and I could very clearly feel her. There was virtually no context to the dream other than I was holding her.
Last night I had a dream about Stark and Hershey. They were misbehaving and I remember Hershey was throwing a bottle of peanuts around trying to get them open. Stark was moaning and running around waiting for the bottle to break open and spill the peanuts. At one point Hershey flung the bottle to high and it landed on the roof of a cottage so I climbed up and passed it back down to her. I thought it was funny and was laughing and probably encouraging the behaviour. It had a weird ending on that I knew the dream was ending and a feeling as though they were gone set over me and the dream turned from laughing to sad.
I hope I can go back to a dream like that and experience them misbehaving again. I enjoyed that part of it.

Cool dreams. I associate peanut bottles with he North Bay camp and the dog's peanut bottle behavior sounds like how the dogs would treat Kongs - they definitely understood that dropping them would loosen the treats inside and sometime even eject them. Cricket has been chewing her's at the top of the stairs - and I wonder if she will take the next step and start dropping it them.
As you get older I find dreams where you can hang-out with missing loved ones hard to resist. I wonder if that's where the idea of heaven come from?

Hershey was a dog that did not let anything stop her. She had an extremely high pain tolerance and she was adaptable whether it be surviving on the streets or blind in a comfy older dog home.... She is greatly missed.

She was such a good dog. Incredibly good natured to most people. She smiled a lot and loved life. I miss her a lot.
